When a staff that was injured on duty has recovered, he/ she is to resume work with light duties. There is a possibility of straining the injury in the course of the light duties. Let's examine the dynamics that involve the insurance provider, the staff, and the employer in return to light duties after a job injury.

What happens if a staff returns to this light duty job but can't do it because of the aftermath of the injury? It may be a pain.

The law categorically states that if a staff returns to light duty and carries it out for 8 hours or a whole working day or if the staff cannot do the light work for more than 15 days, the insurance company has to go back to laying the staff his/ her weekly compensation claims. What this means is that the staff should make a fair attempt at doing this light duty. Try doing it for a whole day and if you truly can't, you are in line to keep getting your weekly injury compensation from the insurance provider. If the staff leaves before 8 hours, the insurance company is not liable to pay the staff injury compensation. It would most likely require a hearing to sort it out.
