When enrolling in the Aetna student health USC insurance plan, it is important to understand what you are getting and what is not covered. For example, you should understand what Dental coverage and Vision coverage will cost you. Aetna no longer mails insurance cards to students, so you should access your plan information online.

Plans
The new Aetna student health insurance plan will allow USC students and their dependents to join the insurance network for 60% less than the cost of Anthem's student health plan. The student health insurance plan will cover the cost of dental and vision care. Students can use their federal student loans to buy the insurance plan.

Students can choose between two Aetna student health plans: EVMS Student Health Insurance plan and Aetna Student Health Insurance plan. Both are underwritten by the Aetna Insurance Company. Students may also select the dental discount plan through the Aetna website. If the insurance plan does not meet their requirements, they may request a waiver from the state that they reside in.

Cost
The cost of Aetna student health insurance is set to increase in the coming years. In 2004, the university only subsidized about $200 of the cost of health insurance for students. By 2019, the subsidy will be up to $2,519 annually. This increase is due to the increase in the coverage limit from $500,000 to $750,000. The new health insurance plan also will allow students to go to doctors outside of USC with ease. However, students will have to submit applications for waivers by specified dates.

Aetna is one of the three health insurance providers offered at USC. It was chosen by a student advisory committee composed of health administration officials, undergraduate and graduate representatives, and university officials. The student health advisory committee found that Aetna's plan was the most beneficial for students. Aetna understands the unique environment of a college environment, so their policies are tailored to students.

Dental coverage
University sponsored dental and vision plans are available to all matriculated students and postdoctoral fellows. Enrollees can also add eligible dependents. Students may change their coverage status every year, as long as they meet certain requirements. Below are some examples of covered dental and vision services.

The first six months of coverage are free. Additional six months are at an additional cost. To extend your coverage, you must enroll at least 30 days before the end of your first six-month period. The subsequent six-month period will bill your student account based on the fee schedule and deductibles for the next plan year.

Vision coverage
If you're a student at Columbia University and looking for vision coverage, Aetna Student Health can help. It offers a voluntary vision plan for all students and their dependents. This plan offers discounted vision exams and discounts on glasses, contacts, and frames.

Free therapists
USC's Counseling and Mental Health Services office offers free counseling and therapy sessions for eligible USC students. USC students who need longer-term therapy can request a referral from an off-campus therapist. Students who do not qualify for USC-provided services can also tap into a mental health service known as Inpathy.

USC's Student Health Insurance Plan is sponsored by Aetna, a large health insurance company. USC students can choose from two plans: the on-campus plan and the off-campus plan. Students who choose to enroll in either plan must have health insurance. The on-campus plan costs $2116 for the 2020-2021 year, while the off-campus plan costs $4109.
