It is a known fact under the compulsory Automobile Insurance Act of Ontario, thst to drive a motor vehicle that is not insured is illegal

The thing is tha driving without insurance might not be an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada, but it is a serious provincial offence as such it comes with severe penalties as well.

So it is expedient for all car owners to have their vehicle insured to avoid the below penalties. So the penalties for driving with no insurance in Ontario are as follows:

An offender will be given a fine that Is between $5,000 and $25,000 on a first conviction of the crime

On a 2nd or subsequent conviction, the offender will be given a fine of between $10,000 and $50,000

Then , the offender driving licence can be suspended for up-to one year
The offender car could be impounded for up-to three months as well.

Again, Under the Provincial Offences Act the offender will be asked to pay a 25% victim fine surcharge in addition to the fine imposed by the court.

So the total to be psid will be about $1,250 which will be for victim fine surcharge , there will be another additional charge of $5,000 .There will be another $12,500 victim fine surcharge with an additional $50,000 fine.

All these information of fines or surcharge will be forwarded to the Province of Ontario.
