It's no secret that retirement can be a tough time for marriages. With so much free time on your hands and fewer opportunities to see each other during the week, it's easy for couples to start growing apart.

But it doesn't have to be that way! There are plenty of things you can do to keep your marriage strong during retirement. Here are a few tips:

1. Make time for each other.

Just because you're retired doesn't mean you don't have time for each other. In fact, you probably have more time than you did when you were working. So use it! Make sure you schedule regular date nights, even if it's just dinner and a movie at home.

2. Find new hobbies to do together.

One of the best ways to stay connected as a couple is to find new hobbies to do together. It can be anything from taking up a new sport to starting a garden. The key is to find something that you both enjoy and that will give you a chance to spend some quality time together.

3. Stay physically active.

It's important to stay physically active during retirement, both for your health and for your marriage. Getting out and doing things together is a great way to stay connected as a couple. Take walks, go on hikes, or even just play a game of tennis together.

4. Travel.

One of the great things about retirement is that you finally have the time to travel. If you've always wanted to see the world, now is your chance! Traveling is a great way to bond as a couple and create new memories together.

5. Make time for friends and family.

Just because you're retired doesn't mean you have to spend all your time together. It's important to make time for your friends and family as well. Invite them over for dinner, go out to lunch with them, or just spend some time chatting on the phone. Staying connected to your loved ones will help keep your marriage strong.

Retirement can really have a negative effect on marriage. They say that absence makes the heart grow fonder and also gives value to anything. If you retire, there is every tendency that you would have much time to be around your spouse which can lead loss of value and disrespect. Thats why I would never retire and come stay home.
