Medicaid is run and managed by the American government. It is designed to finance the health care of Americans with income and their families. It also covers those who are classified as the high-risk part of the population like people with developmental or physical disabilities. Medicaid is jointly funded by the federal and state governments of the United States of America.

Factors like age, health, and financial status. It is determined by the government through a mechanism called the Federal Poverty Level. So anyone who is living below the Federal Poverty Level is qualified for Medicaid. In 2020, the federal poverty level for a family of three was pegged at $21720. That means if the income level of a family of three Is less than the defined amount, the person is eligible for Medicaid. Medicaid allows vulnerable people around our societies and communities to have access to healthcare and get the care that they need.

This is a good initiative by the American government to give financially strained and vulnerable citizens a chance to live a quality and healthy life. There are different types of Medicaid plans though. The Federal Poverty level lets us know who is eligible to get it.
