A medicare Part C plan is an add-on that helps cover the cost of prescription drugs, in addition to the services of a medicare approved provider. If you don't sign up for one of these plans, you will not have access to free or low-cost prescriptions from any providers involved in your medicare plan. So if you are happy with your current medicare plan and don't want to pay more for medication coverage, then this article is most likely not for you.

However, if you would like access to free or low-cost medications from network pharmacies and hospitals nationwide, then a Part D prescription drug program may be worth it! These plans can help provide significant savings on what might otherwise be expensive medications.

It is also possible that your current plan does not cover certain medications and/or procedures, but there are other options. Medicare Part B, which covers physician visits, provides coverage for services that are not covered by a Part C (prescription drug) plan. According to the official federal government website: "People with Medicare coverage through a Part B plan can use their own funds to pay for both office visits and prescription drugs."

"In most cases, if you have both a Part A (original medicare) and a Part B (original medicare that has been converted to supplementary medical insurance) plan, you're covered as long as you don't have any restrictions on your benefits.
