Let me start by saying that when a staff is injured at work, he/ she receives medical treatment to help the injured staff get back to work. The injured staff gets to the point of Maximum Medical Improvement (MMI). This is a stage. This is a stage where staff has reached the peak of medical treatment. At this stage, everything has been done medically.

If after the medical treatment and processes, the staff has not returned back to 100% of what he/ she was, the doctor would give the staff a percentage impairment rating. This helps to determine the compensation the staff would receive. The compensation to be paid is determined by the kind of injury. Two types of work injuries are compensated: They are

1) Scheduled injuries: These are injuries that are incurred occur to your arms, feet, hands, or legs. That is to say, they are limb injuries. The compensation amount is determined by the percentage impairment rating. It is paid for a specified period.

2) Unscheduled Injuries: These are injuries that are sustained in the back and neck region. A Loss of Earning Capacity Analysis is done to determine the compensation amount. The compensation is paid for the rest of the injured staff's life.
