As a home dad, you can save money by:

  • Buying in bulk
  • Reusing resources (planning and cooking meals, growing a garden)
  • Doing the laundry yourself
  • Dressing your kids for school and play, including hair time and outfits for all seasons. As a bonus to you, save money on craft fairs because you can use recyclables.
  • Saving on gas. Carpooling or taking public transportation are both affordable options that also help the environment. If it is not an option or you do decide to drive yourself just keep track of how many miles per gallon your car gets so you know when its time for a new one.
  • Buying used appliances, furniture or clothing is a great way to save money.
  • Use recycled and surplus items to build or make your own furniture.
  • You can recycle and use used paint buckets, bottles and wood to build yourself a workbench. Building a workbench can be easier than it sounds and is actually quite fun with the right tools. Your work bench can be as simple as two saw horses, an old door laid across them and some clamps on the ends for holding your project in place but if you are going to use power tools you need a good surface for them to rest on that is also sturdy enough for heavy pieces of wood.

You have mentioned practical ways by which money can be cinserved by home dads but it can also be used by any stay at home person that also want to conserve money. Buying in bulk is good as you would getting more items for less. But it is good to always buy durable items since you might need to save them for a longer period
Same with making your food than buying from local food vendor. You would conserve money doing this as you would cook more food with less money which is the whole essence of making your own meals.
