A lot of people act as agents for insurance companies. Whereas a lot of them are not agents of any insurance companies. Also, I have seen some people wear their work as third-tier agents for insurance companies which means that they are not the main agents of the insurance company but they work under someone who is the main agent of whatever insurance company that they are working with.

It is not a bad thing to be a third-tier agent for an insurance company but you need to know if the agent is legit or not because some people act like agents and you tend to realize that they are not.

One thing I know is that before you meet someone another person will introduce them to you so you need to ask the person if truly the person that he or she introduces to you is a real agent or not so that you know if you can work with the person or not.

Reputation matters in every business and that is why we have social media. You can up on social media to ask people around you or around the agents to know if the person works with an insurance company and also to know if he does his job perfectly well or not.

Remember to always check about their reputation to know if they are legit or not.

Due to the invention of social media, spotting scams is pretty much easy, all you have to do is run some background check on the agent, we have tools on hubspot and way back machine, where you can go and make a research.

Another vital way is to have them send you their CV, which you can use to contact their previous employers and ask them about them if they're legit or not.

Also, as a service consumer, burden is on you to find out if a an agent is legit or not, because when you get scammed there isn't much you can do apart from reporting to the authority and even at that, it will take an ample time before they get back to you.

There are a lot fake insurance agent in the industry, so one has to do a due diligence before entrusting anything to an agent.

I also want you to know that there are some companies that pay people to write fake reviews about them so that they will have people to patronize them so I think we should be very careful about where we read reviews and how much we believe some reviews even though there are still some legit places where we can read reviews of any company online.

We should have some platforms that we trust when it comes to writing reviews so that we will not be misled by the fake reviews that some other people write online. I hope this is a good idea

In some countries, before selling insurance, the insurance agent has to answer the exam specified by the insurance regulatory authority. In some cases, the exam is online, and only those who pass the exam get a license. So checking the license is one way to check if the insurance agent is legit. The insurance buyer can also contact the insurance companies with whom the agent is affiliated with, to find out if he is genuine.

These are hard conditions in most of cases insurance fails to answer the insurance regulatory authority as these questions are direct and insurance doesn't declare everything.

There are lots of scams ongoing around. Therefore, one needs to be careful in order not to fall victim.
To know the legitimacy of an insurance company, you would need go through some series of processes.
First, you be cautious. In the sense that you shouldn't send money to anyone online, claiming to be an insurance agent.
Though not all are scams, but to be on the safer side, you just have to be in any possible ways.
To know if an insurance agent is legit or not.. You have to ask the possible questions. For example.
You ask for the insurance company papers.
Trustee Insurance forms
Past insurers files.
Etc
