The smartest way to own it .
So you want to start a business, but you're not sure if it's the best way to go. You're also wondering how to make your idea profitable, and wonder whether it's worth your time, effort and resources. The reality is that no one can answer these questions for you — not even this article. There are too many variables at play when attempting to analyze an idea; what the government is doing (or not doing), what the economy looks like in different areas of the country or world, and so on. What I can do is give you some basic tools that may help in your decision-making process.
1. Know your numbers.
Before even attempting to get an idea for a business off the ground, it's important to have an understanding of what will be required to make the process successful. For example, take a look at any potential market in which your idea could thrive. Is there a significant amount of competition? If so, you may have another idea on your hands. If not, then maybe you can start small and work out of that location with plans to grow and expand over time. How many people are in that market? More places may be required than first thought.
