This article has to do with finding ways to save money, and how to spend money wisely. For example, if you only need one of something instead of two because you can't afford the other, then find ways to save by not buying it at all. If this still isn't possible then find cheaper alternatives that are close enough- a store that is out of milk will be more likely to have butter than eggs anyway so buying a carton of eggs would be cheaper in this instance. There are plenty of websites and apps where you can see your spending habits and figure out areas where savings might be used instead.
Finding ways to save money is not always simple, but one thing that can be done is to make a list of things you can buy and the difference in prices, and find the ones that are within your budget. If you really want to stretch the dollar, try buying in bulk at Costco or Sams Club, but do your research first. If all else fails- ask for a raise. Working more hours without getting more pay will not only be hard work but will also rob you of any extra money you might have saved.
