You step into your kitchen and there is a piece of cooker lying around. It is lying there because you were able to purchase a superior cooker to use. Instead of allowing the item to lie about and rot, you can sell it as a used item and save some of the money used to purchase it. Sometimes, you might even have an excess of a particular thing to make use of at a time.

I have a friend that was given more than 15 coolers on her wedding day. She kept all of them in her home They were occupying space. I told her to sell them to people that needed them. She refused to sell insisting that the coolers were gifts. After some time, the coolers all got spoilt because they were not being used. She lost everything. I don't think it is really wise to hold on to things you don't really need no matter the circumstances behind those things. You can always sell them, use the money to get things that you are badly in need of. They say you use what you have to get what you want. All those spare items and items that are no more in use in your house, sell them off.

I totally agree with you it doesn't make any economic sense to hold onto items that you can easily sell out to make money for some very immediate needs.

Like the illustration or example you're just giving they are people like that that just feel they shouldn't sell their gift no matter they need of money at that time it's just their mindset and you may not easily change it but the truth is that it is better to sell something and make the money than leave it to go bad so I totally agree that it is better to sell the stuff we have at home that we don't need it for any use.
