Self discipline is the best character when it comes to proper spending of money. But so many people lack it and that is why you find many who spend money on unwanted things, live from paycheck to paycheck and never invest on anything profitable. Here are some tips to building self discipline for better expenditure;
- Say no to your spending urges - it is much easier said than done, but it is very necessary. Whenever you say no to buying something that is not so useful or cannot afford, the more your self discipline muscle grows.
- Have a budget and stick to it - when you have a list of things you need to spend on each month and their prices alongside them, spending becomes more disciplined. But more discipline is created when you stick to your budget. Again, saying no to spending things outside your budget is what grows your discipline muscle.
- Give yourself some luxuries every now and then - when you spoil yourself sometimes, you become so satisfied and look forward to when you will have fun again. The reason why some people overspend is sometimes because they become so strict at themselves not to have fun that the stress pushes then to spending on the opposite of what they want. When you resist something, it persists. So embrace luxuries as part of your budget but in small amounts that doesn't waste it away and you will spend better.
